I'm really sad that I haven't been able to go to japanese class lately. :( It's definitely not a good feeling, because I really enjoy さとうせんせい 's class. I've been keeping up with the work so far, other than needing to make up the language lab, but I actually forgot to hand in my homework one day! I didn't realise until I came back to my room, about to start the next day's homework and found that I hadn't handed in that day's. Times like these, I feel really scatterbrained.

I hope I'll have a better grasp of myself next week. I'm going on a Model UN trip this weekend, and its been stressful since I've never been to a college conferfence, and they basically gave us a week to prepare when I'm normally used to having two months. I hope that it'll be ok. Guess I won't know until I go though.

To answer さとうせんせい’s question, yes, I like Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches. ^__^

And I just have to say that I'm incredibly nervous for the Japanese exam on monday. I was studying on the subway today...I hope I'll be ready for it!

Since someone else talked about the reason why they are studying Japanese right now, I thought that I should too. I have always, ever since I was little, liked art. Drawing it, or watching it, didn't matter to me, but the first time I watched あにめ, I was hooked on the style of art. あにめ is probably Japan's second biggest export with the exception of automobiles (じどしゃ!), or at least, it seems this way to my generation, which has grown up on Sailormoon and Pokemon.

I started taking art lessons and drew あにめ on the side (the picture above is an example of a recent illustration I drew for a friend) until it became more than a hobby, and less than a full-blown profession for me. I have to admit that my secret dream profession is to work for a large game company like Square Enix, but I was talking to a friend who's currently working in the game industry and she said, my dream would never happen unless I could speak Japanese.

That reason, and others are why I decided to take Japanese here at Columbia, and I'm glad I did. Even though learning a foreign language is hard, it's also rewarding at the same time, and so even if I struggle, I'm determined to stick with it and learn as best as I can. Who knows, maybe my secret dream will come true one day because I took さとうせんせい’s class. ^__^

PS: I think I should invest in a Japanese-English Dictionary...

ps...on an えご note, I feel that learning Japanese is difficult for me, since its hard to master instant recognition of the hirigana within two weeks, but I am determined to study hard this weekend to get a better grasp of all the hirigana. Also, the amount of worksheets was a bit overwhelming for me, so sorry さとうせんせい if some of my worksheets are late! I'm trying to finish them asap.
